Outbound calls

Outbound means your agent calls your customers. Use it for follow-ups, reminders, confirmations, surveys, and lead qualification.

To call many people at once, see Campaigns. This page covers placing a single call.

Placing a single call

From an agent (configured for outbound or both), choose Place a call and provide:

FieldWhat it is
AgentWhich agent makes the call.
Destination numberThe number to call.
Contact name (optional)First/last name, used in the greeting and as a variable.
Variables (optional)Any extra details to personalize the call — referenced in the prompt as {{placeholders}}.

The agent calls from its assigned number (that’s the caller ID), has the conversation, and the result is saved to your call logs.

Outbound calls require a positive credit balance. See Billing & credits.

Personalizing outbound calls

Pass variables with the call and use them in your instructions:

Start with: "Hi {{first_name}}, this is Maya calling from Bright Smile Dental
about your appointment on {{appointment_date}}."

Anything you send with the call becomes available as a {{variable}} in the prompt — so each call feels personal.

Responsible outbound calling

Calling customers proactively is powerful — use it responsibly and legally:

  • Get consent. Only call people who’ve agreed to be contacted.
  • Respect calling hours. Keep to reasonable local hours for whichever country you’re calling.
  • Honor opt-outs. Give people a clear way to say “don’t call again,” and respect it.
  • Identify yourself. Have the agent state who’s calling and why, up front.

See Regions & compliance for more.
